SDOW Classes Resume Wednesday, January 3

This is a reminder that students return for the second semester Wednesday, Jan. 3. It will be an early release day. All K-12 students will be released one hour early.

With the freezing temperatures we’re experiencing, it is important to make sure your child is warm while waiting for the school bus or while walking to school. Being exposed to extreme cold for long periods of time can cause fatigue and increase the risk of hypothermia and frostbite. Waiting in a vehicle for the bus is advised. Below are a few things to remember.

* Dress in layers. Layers of clothing trap warm air next to the body.

* Wear hats, mittens/gloves and boots to stay warm and dry. Up to half of your body heat can be lost when your head is not protected against the cold.

* During inclement weather, buses may run late. If the bus is 30 minutes late, students should return home and contact the school district’s transportation company, First Student, at 636-239-1429.
